Of Monsters and Men
Of Monsters and Men is an amiable group of five day dreamers from Iceland who’s debut album “My Head Is An Animal” is a collection of infectious folkie pop songs. With the group’s bright, trumpeting single “Little Talks”, the band (consisting of Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, co-singer/guitarist Ragnar “Raggi” Þórhallsson, guitarist Brynjar Leifsson, drummer Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson, and bassist Kristján Páll Kristjánsson) has become a break out act all around the world.
As winners of Iceland’s Músiktilraunir competition in 2010, the group earned a slot on the influential Iceland Airwaves festival that same year. By the summer of 2011 “Little Talks” hit No. 1 in the band’s native country, and started to move its away across the world. The band was asked to perform again at Iceland Airwaves 2011, where KEXP then anointed the group as “easily the most buzzed about band.
After a veritable breakout year, "My Head Is An Animal," the band's smash debut album was officially certified platinum worldwide by the RIAA. Surpassing 1 million sales, the record remains a clarion call for the band's inimitable, intimate, and invigorating style. It's also ignited a string of milestones for the group. Supporting the success behind “My Head Is An Animal,” including a #6 debut on Billboard Top 200 chart, 2012 also saw Of Monsters and Men tour the world, playing sold out shows in Japan, Australia, Europe, United Kingdom, and all across the United States. The band capped off the year with “Little Talks” selling over 3.5 million singles worldwide, the album reaching Platinum status in Canada and Ireland, as well as Gold in multiple countries including Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and United States.
In 2013, Of Monsters and Men will embark on a world tour including stops in Japan, Australia, South America, UK, Europe, and heading back to North America this summer.
