About Catfish and the Bottlemen

If this Arctic Monkeys-informed slice of lyricism is anything to go by, anything but anonymity beckons - Q Like The Walkmen's 'The Rat' realised as a full band - NME Frontman Van McCann breathes believable vulnerability into his performance - The Sun A polished, energetic piece of work - Evening Standard Addictively energetic and well-crafted songs - 1883 Magazine Surging riffs and energetically splayed choruses - The Guardian Raw and aggressive [...] a band not to be missed - Artrocker Armed with a repertoire of hectic, but undeniably catchy tunes, the band channel indie rock's brightest moments from the last 20 years - Esquire Llandudno 4 piece Catfish And The Bottlemen signed to Communion Records (Ben Howard, Michael Kiwanuka, Deap Valley, Half Moon Run) in the spring of 2013, following a furious 18 month period which saw them play over 100 live shows both in the UK and abroad. Having already honed their incredibly tight live set, which invariably sees frontman Van McCann climbing the walls and playing guitar as though his life depended on it, 2013 has seen the band selling out headline tours and playing festivals such as Latitude and Reading and Leeds. With playlists additions at Radio 1 and Xfm on singles ‘Rango’ and ‘Pacifier’, strong support from DJs such as Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq, as well ‘Rango’ making Zane Lowe’s Hottest 100 Records of 2013, it’s no wonder that Catfish and the Bottlemen are being tipped for big things in 2014. The band’s debut album is expected to drop late summer, 2014. Catfish And The Bottlemen are Van McCann (vocals & guitar), Billy Billy (lead guitar), Benji Blakeway (bass) and Bob Hall (drums).
