About Blank Range

Blank Range is a five-piece rock and roll band from Nashville, Tennessee. Although located in the South, four of the five members grew up in Northern Illinois, and the fifth is a native of St. Louis. Together they write music that reflects their Midwestern upbringing.   Each song is the product of a collaborative effort that simultaneously resists but skeptically embraces popular trends in alternative culture. The lyrics are often stark and stoic, complimented by thoughtful musical arrangements that can suddenly whip up into violent sonic outbursts (Last Crash Landing; Ziggy Coyote). Though, other songs (Roommate’s Girlfriend) function as lighthearted counterpoints during the band’s intense performances.   In March 2013 Blank Range released a six song tape, Phase II, through their label Sturdy Girls Records. More recently, the band self-released a vinyl 45” in November 2013. As an indication of the group’s hard work, Nashville radio station Lightning 100 named Blank Range’s “Last Crash Landing” one of the best local songs of 2013.   Currently Blank Range is patiently working on new material for a full-length album, taking time to ensure they push the creative boundaries they’ve established on previous releases. In addition to releasing new music this year, the band looks forward to building a larger fan base in Nashville, and hopes to tour extensively across the United States.
